Note: Operations have alternatively been called Secret Missions, Missions, and Social Missions.

Operations are discovered by doing Jobs and will show up approximately once per day.
In order to complete an Operation you must ask for help via wall post (once every 30 minutes) or by selecting specific mafia and sending invites. You may also complete 1 slot yourself and/or buy a slot to complete it (5 for Easy Operations, 7 for Medium Operations, 8 for Hard Operations).
Operation help can be given by anyone, you do not need to be social network friends or in each others mafia.
You may remove a mafia member from a specific slot, however all progress for that slot will be lost.
On completion 4 randomly selected rewards are given to the operation owner and 3 to helpers. With a daily limit of 10 rare items from any operation. There is also a small chance of getting a Bonus Payment and sending one to your mafia.

There are groups you can join to find and post operation help requests, the most popular being Finish My Mafia Wars Operations.

Q: How do Operations trigger?

A: These can randomly trigger while doing regular jobs.

Q: How do Operations work?

A: There are two roles - Initiator and Helper.

Once an Operation triggers, as an Initiator, you can post a feed requesting help, or send specific requests for help from your Mafia. Only your Mafia can help.
There are various Helper positions that need to be filled, and each may have different requirements that are geared for different types of players.
An Operation timer will start. Your Operation must be finished within this time to collect its reward.
In order to complete your Operation, each of the Helpers must complete their assigned job.

Helpers will receive a combination of experience points, cash, or Loyalty points for completing a job.
Note: Loyalty Points will not be rewarded at this time in Operations.

If you have a slower than desired Helper, you can remove them to have another Mafia member fill that slot.
Once all jobs are complete, the Initiator has to 'finish' the Operation for it to be a success.

Initiators will receive a combination of experience points, cash, or special loot for a successful Operation.
Helpers will receive a combination of loot, consumables, or loyalty points for a successful Operation.
These rewards must be collected promptly, or they will expire.

Q: How many Operations can I initiate?

A: Up to 10

Q: How many Operations can I help in?

A: Up to 10

Q: Can I help an Initiator on more than one of his/her Operations?

A: Yes

Q: What happens if the timer expires before the Operation is complete?

A: Nobody gets the reward for an incomplete Operation. Everybody has to do their required role. All Helpers must complete their jobs. The Initiator may restart the Operation.

haven't gotten any of the new operations. but still haven't gotten any operations in weeks. confused. KARMAKULA: i heard you wanted to edit this page. Suggestion: make the page shorter. there's no need to show the rewards of the new missions every time because they have the same rewards. just little stuff like that to make it easier

Zynga said they'd be releasing the Crack the Safe loot later in future events/features when Crack the Safe was finishing up... This was to allow those who didn't get it finished, to get the loot.

If we were in perfect world, they would definetly drop. Or they would have relocated the collection items. BUT since it's Zynga, they might be gone for good.

Probably still the same method to unlock the 2 new medium and 2 new easy Ops. Don't start the new Hard Ops when they drop. Don't click the Close button and do not post for help. Just reload your browser and then let them expire. You'll have to wait the full time limit of 3 days before another Op will drop. I'm also guessing the limit you can have is 10 in queue, so delete all old Easy Ops you have and maybe some Medium ones too

Ok, so i have been meaning to look into reorganizing this page a bit for awhile now and with new operations on the way as well as several non-event operations that have already retired i think it is time to get it sorted. Opinions/ideas on the best way to do this would be helpful.
A few quick thoughts...
- drop the individual rewards sections for each operation and create a table similar to those used for the inventory master lists, 2 tables to separate rewards for active operations from those of retired/old rewards.
- organize them differently, perhaps just into retired/active/event
- drop the full inclusion of event operations in favor of something similar to the missions page (as the info is already on its own pages)

As i am sure people have noticed, when an operation drops you can no longer simply click the x and get rid of the box. It prompts you about removing the mission and you either accept and lose it or cancel and the operation pop up remains. Just refresh the page.
