Crew Collections are a new feature of Mafia Wars, which was introduced on March 12, 2010. Every player gets one item out of one of the three collections to start with. You can ask for help on finding collectibles once every 48 hours. In order to ask for help, you need at least one item out of the collection. If your friends accept your request for help, they have to complete a specific job that randomly drops an item from the specific collection you requested help for. Both helper and request issuer will receive the item found. You can help up to 5 friends within 24 hours and a total of 5 mafia members can help on a help request.

Such worthless garbage rewards for these and they are so hard to complete. I finally completed one by having some gift me a blond bombshell dress out of the blue. Now that I have that achievment I have no desire to vault this crap that won't even be close to being used by my mafia.

how do you access crew collection

this will sound really strange but if I try to help a friend with a crew collection without having any energy left, I get an opportunity to find the rare crew collection items....I've tried this 3 times by depleting my energy and keeping an energy pack in reserve and I've got a guidance module, an ultralight fuel cell and a counterfeit ID badge!!!
could ofcourse be a coincidence but since I've helped many friends out already and never had a chance to get a rare collection item I doubt that it is a coincidence...
