The Carnival parade may be over, but the festivities are still in full swing with the bands striking their favorite cords. Feathers have been donned, dancing has been done, and masks have been worn, but as the streets fill with revelers night after night, there is bound to be mayhem around every corner.

OverviewEdit

If you survive the revelry, see if you can collect and master all three levels of the Brazilian Smuggling event to earn the ultimate Grand Prize. Every couple of days new gift items will unlock and become giftable to mafia members and friends through the message box on your home page or the free gifts page. Players will be able to gain mastery for collecting multiples of each unique Brazilian Smuggling item. Each of the Brazilian Smuggling Gifts may randomly drop while doing jobs and fights. These can be shared with friends through your feeds, and friends who click on your feed will give you Brazilian Smuggling gifts in return. Number of gifts required to master each level are:

Bronze- 4 Gifts
Silver- 8 Gifts
Gold- 16 Gifts
Total required = 28 per Brazilian Smuggling gift type

Players who reach the Gold Mastery for each level of the Brazilian Smuggling event will achieve the Grand Prize of the Logging Truck. The Grand Prize will only be awarded once the Gold Mastery for all three Brazilian Smuggling gifts has been achieved. Players will have the opportunity to repeat the event after achieving Gold Mastery for all three items. After you have achieved the Grand Prize the Brazilian Smuggling gift event will reset from the beginning so that you can earn duplicate mastery items. This event can be repeated 2 additional times to earn a maximum of 3 mastery reward items.

When does this event start?

This event will begin on Friday, March 25th, 2011. As with all of our previous event releases, this will be gradual to ensure stability within the game. (Not all players will have initial access to this event.)

How long does this event last?

This event is schedule to end on Friday, April 1st, however, this date is subject to change. A 48 hour countdwon timer will start two days prior to the end of the even to keep you on track.

When do the other free items unlock?

The gift items are scheduled to be released every two days after the start date.

Will I be able to collect multiple Mastery items?

After the Grand Prize item has been earned you will have the ability to collect multiples of the 3 Mastery items that have been unlocked. Your best strategy will be to collect enough gifts to achieve the Gold Mastery for each item in the Brazilian Smuggling mission, and then wait until you have collected the Grand Prize. When the event has been reset, you can go back and collect any extra Brazilian Smuggling gifts sent to you to fulfill the repeat requirements.

Please note that it is possible to have multiple Gold Mastery items, however, only 1 Bronze or Silver Mastery item is allowed to exist at a time. (Example, you might have a Mastery Item in Gold and Bronze, or Gold and Silver.) Once you have a second set of Gold Mastery items, you will receive a second Grand Prize item.

Is there a limit to the number of Brazilian Smuggling items that can be collected from feeds each day?

The maximum number of Brazilian Smuggling gifts that you can claim will be limited to 3 items per day. Although you can only claim 3 items per day, there is not a limit on the number that you can receive through gift requests.

What can I do if I do not have enough Brazilian Smuggling gifts to master an item?

You will have the option to purchase additional Brazilian Smuggling gifts for reward points in order to complete the mastery. There are no limits to the number of Brazilian Smuggling gifts that you can purchase each day.

What will happen to the unclaimed Brazilian Smuggling gifts after the event is over?

Any unclaimed Brazilian Smuggling gifts will be converted to regular mystery bags.

everyday i got messages you have collected all you can @ 40 a day able to get gifts I should of gotten the logging truck! I send receive get rid of cheats!

I'm not getting any of the "Bonus Supplies" pop-ups that you can post and share with friends. I didn't get any during the Fighting Irish event either ... does anyone know what might be wrong? I can't find any info on the help forums. I'm also not getting any of the pop-ups where you can choose one of three items - maybe a related problem?

why let yourself be annoyed, just leave the mini game u can play mafia wars with out doing any of this. but if u like the reward its just simple u need only 28 friends to send you gifts a day out of 501 mafia. Hope u got atleast 28 mafia coz if all u got are Hired Guns like most early player your gonna be screwed up.

You're missing the point. People are annoyed because these gifting events come out one after another and they're always the same. Are people supposed to ignore every one of them? Are you supposed to keep playing while your mafia sends you hundreds of these gifts over a week?
Saying "just ignore it" isn't the answer because it's part of the game and jumps into your face every time you open it. Also, collecting rare items is part of the "fun" and gifting events shouldn't be the only way to get them.

Again and again and again the same thing. Hey Zynga, dont you see that events like these are very boring and annoying?? For one more week, I will see hundred of posts like "send supplies", "bonus supplies" and "get rewards". For one more week I will have to send these supplies (oh God, every 24 hours) while other gifts, (like italian parts that you disappeared), are more useful. I hope that this will be the last gift event and dont see a new one in the near future!!!!

I don't mind the mini events as long as they give away bonuses that enhance our game.Even though we bug each other for these items. we are all having to do it if we chose!I think the thing that is maddening and frustrating is the time limit. When Zynga / Facebook screws up and requets are received because they are not showing up and your 2 or 5 mission crew away from winning the bonus and time runs out. This has happened several times to me. I have also spoken to other who have missed out working a several tier mini mission and lost out. I feel if ppl are that close. they should award them of that bonus.as rounding off the completion. There is simply too many limits on things to complete these time sensitive missions. IE: war once every 24 hours, collection of some properties every 24 hours and any other tasks that take forever to complete one task. How ridiculous is these limits/ time sensitive events gonna get!!!

One would think that the motto "Fighting Irish" would have been perfect for a fight event, yet they keep rolling out these inane gifting events. I have to assume that's the easiest least work intensive way for them to keep people playing, especially when they artificially stretch it out over a week by time locking these gifts.

These would have to be the most boring, time consuming missions in this game. I am sick of having to bug the cr*p out of my friends to accumulate 84 of these for each mastery item. Bring back fights or something original .. please!!!! Scott S

I am surprised they push these events so much... they are clearly far less popular and engaging (game wise) than other events (like boss fight or limited jobs), and people are forever complaining about them. Yet they keeping pushing them and it has been quite awhile since they had a boos fight event, limited job event, operation involved event, etc.
All these new features... and instead of balancing the amount of new content related to each feature to provide ongoing variety they just push the most recent stuff over and over and neglect the other ideas already in place.
I'd have no issue with there always being an event active, as long as the type of event was balanced among the different ones. Fight events involve focused stamina use and limited mafia help, limited job events involve energy and limited gifting, mission events vary greatly, operation related events require mafia involvement, but free gift, gift mastery, loot (collect x to get x item) are all just mundane uninvolved requesting/gifting.

Balance is key to any game...a breather in between would be nice. Perhaps mixing in "other" mini mission jobs, fight events and collection jobs as to break things up a bit.. I would enjoy clearing off my gift boards before we have another gifting event, but I do look forward to the grand prize!

Agree 100%. I am so sick of this garbage...... Zynga shows time and again they have no idea what the player community wants (or even what it is like to play their game on a daily basis, for that matter), nor do they care. Hell, not even a single day of rest between these insanely crappy events this time. What are the reasons behind this? I guess the more we click around in their application and the more request spam we send out, the more money they can make somehow?
Some aspects I'd like to add: -Pointless gifting events have nothing to do with/ no place in a game called "Mafia Wars". They just distract from the core activities, which should be fighting and doing jobs and missions. (And I have no objections to other additions such as property upgrades, slot machine, etc, as they are still part of the overall storyline in a way - but collecting carnival masks is definitely not a Mafia pastime.) If Zynga plans to continue like this, they should better rename it to "FriendGiftVille"....... :-( -The reward items in the event aren't balanced, either: 3 out of 4 have higher defense than attack stats. This was already the case with the "Fighting Irish" event as well. -These gifts are both extremely annoying and time-consuming. Especially as you are forced to accept them 1 by 1; and after getting a gold item, you cannot accept any surplus gifts you may have accumulated before you have received the mastery reward (like the Shield of Eire or the Logging Truck) and restarted the event, so they clog up your requests queue for days.
